MIS34 transient climate model simulation data

To further quantify the possible impacts of millennial-scale climate variability on human habitability, the ICCP has conducted a realistic transient climate model simulation, covering the Heinrich event of MIS34 (i.e., 1122ka to 1110ka). This simulation has the same configuration as the previously-done 2Ma Community Earth System Model version 1.2 (CESM1.2) simulation (https://climatedata.ibs.re.kr/data/hominin-habitats), except for the anomalous deglacial freshwater forcing to the North Atlantic Ocean during the MIS34. The climate envelope model, based on a 4-dimensional Mahalanobis metric, stratifies the data entries into spatiotemporally delimited groups for early African hominins (Homo habilis and Homo ergaster combined as one group, Eurasian Homo erectus, Homo heidelbergensis, Homo neanderthalensis, and Homo sapiens, separately).

The following data is available through our OPeNDAP and LAS server.

Notice:

  1. There are several periods when hominins did not exist. The non-existent hominin habitats are displayed as Nan values.
  2. The time axis ranging from 001 to 241 indicates the climate history from 1122ka (0001) to 1110ka (241), with an interval of 50-year.
